Data is king in the new economy, and we’re seeking an individual with experience working in “structured,” “semi-structured,” and “unstructured” data environments.

We’re seeking a Data Architect to join a fast-paced agile development team building the latest in innovative and disruptive technologies leveraging the power of big data. In this position you’ll get to lead the design of Quadient’s future state DXP platform. You’ll be expected to define architectures and prototype technology components required to instantiate our future data capabilities. We expect that you are fluent in all things data, and you know how to approach, interpret, and extrapolate from big data sets. You will be expected to contribute immediately. You’ll be a part of a dynamic, collaborative team that wants your input because you know the leading methods, tools, and theories in data architecture.

Responsibilities:

  • Influence technology roadmap
  • Act as subject matter expert for Big Data Platforms and provide technical leadership around the delivery of the enterprise data lake
  • Design, develop, and deliver large-scale projects to support Big Data ingestion, curation and delivery using an Agile programming approach resulting in software delivered on time and in budget
  • Monitor performance and advise of any necessary tool, framework & usage choices
  • Innovate new ways of managing, transforming and validating data
  • Establish and enforce guidelines to ensure consistency, quality and completeness of data assets
  • Manage and maintain key solution architecture artifacts

 Must haves:

  • Hands-on experience with SQL RDBMS and NoSQL databases, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB
  • Experience architecting, implementing, and validating integrations with 3rd party applications
  • End to end solutions experience including strategy development, design patterns, product selection, technical implementation, and configuration of BigData analytics solutions
  • Exposure to API frameworks
  • Exposure to industry-leading metadata tools such as Atlas or Informatica Metadata a plus. Metadata management, data lineage, data governance, especially as related to Big Data
  • Good understanding of file formats including JSON, Parquet, Avro, HDFS
  • Experience in business, system architecture principles, architecture patterns, processes and frameworks
  • Experience in working in direct client engagements and in project/cost estimation techniques
  • Exceptional client management and communication skills, ability to guide, train and negotiate technical decisions
  • Deep understanding of SOA, EDA, micro-services, enterprise middleware and cloud computing, with active experience in the entire process, from design to implementation
  • Experience in business, system architecture principles, architecture patterns, processes and frameworks
  • Experience in working in direct client engagements and in project/cost estimation techniques
  • Have an affinity for new challenges, a self-starting attitude, and a willingness to work with a global team
  • Be able to take ownership of complex technical problems and drive them to resolution individually as well as work effectively through escalations with the engineering team
  • You can bring clarity to chaos and you’re comfortable working with ambiguity (e.g. imperfect data, loosely defined concepts, ideas, or goals) and translating these into more tangible outputs

  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics or other similar advanced degrees from a top tier educational institution preferred
