What is a Canada Post rate change?

- Every year Canada Post files proposed changes to lettermail services and prices with the parliament of Canada.
- These changes usually go into effect in January of the new year.
- Changes to lettermail services and pricing are based on annual analysis of the cost to deliver mail to all addresses across Canada.
How to update your postage meter
Updating our IN and IS series postage meters is easy; simply ensure your LAN line is connected, then complete the steps in the instructions provided below. To facilitate the update of our legacy IJ series postage meters, we will be sending the necessary media for your model and external weighing device, if applicable. Your rate change package will arrive by January 10th to ensure there is no disruption to the delivery of your business communications.

Effective January 13th, 2020, Canada Post will be introducing new lettermail services and prices. A rate package was sent to you to ensure that your postage meter is updated with the latest Canada Post options and pricing to ensure you pay the correct postage for every letter you send.
Remove the current rate chip installed in your scale or postage meter and replace it with the chip you received in the rate package, then return the old chip to Quadient in the envelope provided. Step by step instructions are included in the rate package, and for your convenience, they can also be accessed above by selecting the the appropriate postage meter model.
This is a federally regulated event. All active postage meters in Canada are required to support the latest Canada Post services and prices . The latest services and prices go into effect January 13th, 2020.
In recent years, Canada Post has introduced changes to letter and parcel services in January, however, changes can be introduced intermittently, which will require additional updates to your postage meter.
